New Year Plan

Hi Everyone.

We are now into the second week of January 2022, many businesses are now returning back to work, whether it is the office, or home office, or a combination of both to be safe during this time.

In recent weeks we have seen an increase in Covid cases not only in Victoria, but around the country, and people are preparing, but also learning to live with it in the safest manner possible. So I say good luck to everyone learning to live with it and remaining as safe as possible, and limiting the public gatherings, etc.

Whilst we can’t control the Government’s response to Covid, a business still needs to plan for a successful year, and with the thinking, we will be able to trade a majority of the year, if not all the year, therefore our plans, goals, objectives, etc must align for this to occur, however still allowing some flexibility should the need arise.

So, what we need to ask ourselves is what are we going to do differently to ensure we have a different result to what we have had in previous years, if you keep doing exactly the same, you will gain the same results.

Think a Melbourne Accountant Darren Veerapa partly summed it up this week whilst we were talking- there is a big different to thinking short term or long term – we believe many business owners only think short term, for example 2-3 years, which is often like being in Government, they cant plan a lot past that as they don’t know if they will be in Government or not. If we think like this, and not knowing if we will be in business in 5 years, how can our potential clients/customers have faith in our business, if the business owner does not have faith in their business.

Whilst, myself I probably wasn’t totally thinking 5 years or longer, as often I am working with clients as a mentor, for the next 2-3 years, however after talks with Darren Veerapa, the idea of the importance of longer term was sinking in, and this came about mainly when we were talking about marketing, for example we can take 12 months to prepare our content and have the content ready to go, we can market research our product/service to ensure our potential clients will want the products/ services, although probably works better with service based businesses, however it can give you time to plan your content, build your database to ensure you can target the potential clients in the second year, which can help with building your brand and your reputation.

So again, I ask the question, what are you going to do differently in 2022, and after reading this little blog, does it change what you were thinking and what needs to be done in order to achieving that.

I will finish off the blog, with a thank you for reading the blog, wishing you the best for 2022 and the future, I also want you think if you plan to use the services of a mentor or coach is to ensure your business is set up correctly, to ensure you can gain the full potential of using the coach/mentor service, and if you are considering doing any training this year, speak with the team at SGH Business Services, and we will see how we can assist you.
